On May 3rd, I was honored to put together the lovely spring wedding of Amy & Blake. Amy looked stunning in her Vera Wang gown. The couple was married at the beautiful Scarritt Bennett Wightman Chapel in a ceremony filled with a wonderful array of music, including strings, organ and a full choir. The guests were very touched especially by the chapel acoustics of the choir and the incredible bagpiper.
He not only played Highland Cathedral for the processional, but closed the ceremony recessing to the front lawn of the chapel with the lilting strains of Ode to Joy as the guests made their way to their cars.
Amy’s color palette of peony pink, and kiwi with accents of chocolate and ivory was perfect for the “plantation chic" garden reception at Pleasant Hill Mansion/Governor’s Club. The evening began with passed horsdoeurves and the couple’s signature cocktail, a "Newtini". Dining was on the lawn and the dance floor was under the chandelier in the clear top tent.
Additional spaces for guests to enjoy were created through the use of custom designed event lighting and a fabulously chic lounge on the patio. The lounge, low and elegant, was done in ivory with kiwi and chocolate brown monogrammed accent pillows carrying the color theme. The entire event was elegantly bathed in candlelight and the tables were accented with pink peonies, green hydrangeas, roses and cymbidium orchids. Green hydrangeas accented the simple lines of the five tier wedding cake.
The high point of the evening was when Amy and her Father danced to a medley of My Girl, Isn’t She Lovely & Brown Eyed Girl as performed by the evening’s band, 24/7. Then the dance floor opened and remained full all night!
As the evening wound down, coaches were in place to transport Amy and Blake’s out of town guests back to their hotels where a sweet note and sweet treat of Tennessee Tea Cakes waited on their pillow. This beautiful event drew to an appropriate close as the smiling couple was whisked away in a beribboned vintage jaguar! Best wishes to Amy and Blake!
There is always more to learn.
